Late 17th Century Oak Chest of Drawers

This lovely chest, dating back to circa 1680, is a testament to the craftsmanship of its time. Crafted from solid oak, it boasts very good proportions, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The rich, deep colour of the wood exudes warmth and character, while the lovely patination adds to its charm.

The drawers are a highlight of this chest. They have retained their original escutcheons and locks, showcasing the attention to detail that went into its creation. Although the handles have been sympathetically replaced over the years, they seamlessly blend with the overall design.

As is often the case with antique furniture, this chest now stands on later bun feet, a subtle modification made after more than 330 years. Despite its age, it remains a truly lovely piece, evoking the elegance and history of the late 17th century.
